We do know it all started out with an ad in the local newspaper in 1957 – Earl Boen looking for someone to play chess with. Dayton Chess Club hours of operation:
Wednesdays: 6:30pm-9:30pm
This is our laid-back night ….drop by for a casual game of chess. Usually Riley is willing to play a game or two…and if you don’t know Riley, you need to drop by more often! He IS Mr Dayton Chess Club…..
Thursdays: 6:30pm-9:30pm
This is our “Scholastic Knights” evening, geared towards K-12 students – learn to play, learn simple tactics – all geared to YOU! Normal evening rates for K-12 is $3. Thursday evenings, it’s only $2 for K-12 and parents, if you’re willing to help out, $2 is all we ask for the evening! Ms Kay Stanley runs the Scholastic Knights program – and has some outstanding help. Drop by!
Fridays: 6:30pm-12:30am
There’s always a rated USCF game in 25 on Friday nights …. nominal entry fee of $10 for non-members, $8 for members, prizes based on entries. And of course, there’s always players looking for a game or two who don’t play in the tournament!
Saturdays: Open only during scheduled tournaments – check out our calender!

Evening: $3 for K-12 (except Thursdays!), $4 adults
Month: $10 for K-12, $12 adults
Six months:$40 for K-12, $48 adults
Year: $66 for K-12, $85 adults
